MAKEMAKE, RE-ENCHANTMENT STUDIO

Helping a world-class creative studio grow into a more conscious future

MakeMake is a pioneering, multiple award-winning creative production company based in California and New York. They have grown through extraordinary creative work and by bringing together a number of highly talented film and media production units into a single studio, with a passion to develop stories that represent a more conscious and life-supporting world.

We were delighted to be invited to support their own evolution: helping them make sense of a major transition from a collection of business units towards a single, cohesive studio working with even greater creativity and impact as a whole.

Helping a system to connect and understand itself

Invited to support the evolution process by filmmaker and founder, Angus Wall, we helped to design and facilitate a process of conversations and sense-making spaces, bringing people from across a group of merging units, and helping them work on themes that felt important to work on together as they evolved.

By guiding conversations like these, making a different quality of space, we helped the organisation to connect, bring out dynamics and patterns more honestly, and take positive steps towards a new chapter as a studio.

Today, MakeMake continues to take bold steps with extraordinary creativity. It continues to hold a torch for creating new stories to inspire a more conscious world. It does so by having made time to listen, notice, understand, and sense into the future in a deeper, connected way.

Inspiration from Appreciative Inquiry, Systems Learning, and a sprinkle of physicist, David Bohm

In fast-changing times, finding new ways to slow down, make sense of the world and adapt together becomes essential.

In our work with MakeMake, we drew on Appreciative Inquiry to explore questions from a place of curiosity and possibility. We brought in ideas from living systems, sharing ideas about healthy systems learn and evolve, while also looking at different layers of cultural change - looking not only at the content of ideas, but deeper forces of how change happens, and what influences change.

And, as ever in our work, we worked with the understanding that seeing and moving as a whole system calls for a different quality of listening. To paraphrase the physicist David Bohm, truly seeing a system takes time.

Sometimes, the first step towards a different future lies in creating the space to listen, to really connect, and to give time to see potential together.

We believe this is the kind of sensing and connecting we will need more of to navigate and create the more conscious world we want to see in future.

Thank you, David Bohm
